Boys Varsity Football · Lumpkin County Faced A Tough Jackson County Team Friday Evening

Lumpkin County traveled to Jackson County last night.  The Indians were looking to get things back on track in this young season. Coach Sorrells had the team ready for a intense battle. Jackson County was moving the ball early when the Indians forced a fumble and recovered. The Indians has success moving the ball after the fumble but the Panthers forced a fumble and recovered on the 50 yard line. The Panthers took that opportunity and scored on a 42 yard TD pass. Jackson County took a 6-0 lead when extra point failed. The Indians offense went 3 and out but a bad snap on the punt gave the Panthers a safety score now 8-0. Jackson County responds again and with a 32 yard TD pass takes a 14-0 lead after the extra point again failed. The first quarter ended Lumpkin 0 Jackson County 14 with Jackson County with the ball.

The second quarter starts with the Panthers again scoring on a 4 and 8 play. This time a 55 yard TD pass 11:50 on the clock. Jackson County 21 Lumpkin 0. The Indians defense stiffens and stops the Panthers on a 4 and 7. The Indians start moving the ball and things begin to look good. This time a bad snap stopped the drive forcing the Indians to punt. The Panthers get another TD this time on a 40 yard pass to lead 28-0. The half ends with the Indians behind 0-28.

The third quarter starts with both teams playing tough defense. Both teams go back and forth before the Panthers with 5:34 in the third getting a field goal to lead 31-0 over the Indians. Indian offense just cannot mount any successful drives while the defense again steps up and holds the Panthers on another 4th down attempt. The third quarter ends Indians 0 Panthers 31.

The fourth quarter starts with a running clock and the Panthers playing mostly their JV. The quarter is a defensive battle with neither teams offense getting much going. The game ends Lumpkin County 0 Jackson County 31. The Indians hope to get back on track next Friday at home against Gilmer in a Blackout Game. Go Indians!!! Indian Pride!
