We were spoiled with some great efforts around this corner of the state of Georgia in boys basketball. Congrats to these young men, who make up our 2019-20 BLITZ Player of the Year Nominees & Honorable Mentions list of 39 individuals. The 2019-20 season for girls hoops was about as good as we’ve ever seen. 10 out of 12 area teams made the playoffs, 9 had winning records, 9 others were state-ranked, and 5 made it past the first round of state. The Lady Indians ran into a buzz saw Friday. Buford scored 3 goals in the first half and another 3 in the second half to take 6-0 victory over the Indians. The Indians will host Lakeview Academy on Monday with a 5:30 start. Go Indians!!! Indian Pride!
Lumpkin County played Buford Friday evening. The first half ended up tied at 1. In the second half the Indians scored 3 goals to Buford’s 2. That gave the Indians the 4-3 victory over Buford. Go Indians!!! Indian Pride!
The Indians went back to Pickens again today. Lumpkin was behind 5-0 in the fifth inning. The Indians put 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th but if was not enough. The Indians lost 2-5. The JV defeated Pickens JV 8-2. On Monday the Indians will host Lakeiew Academy at 5

Sam Irwin and Nolan Wheeler have been named finalists for the Blitz Sports Wrestler of the Year. Irwin is a Lumpkin back to back Champion at 182 and Wheeler is a Lumpkin 3 time Champion at 160. Lumpkin Ladies soccer hosted Southeast Whitfield tonight. The ladies came away with a big win 6-0. Hope Kenney claimed the career goal scoring record. Currently at 83 and counting! Special player with a host of special players around her! The Indians will travel to Buford on Friday with a 5:30 start. Go Indians!!! Indian Pride!
